“I just need to make it past [INSERT THE FOLLOWING: law school…..the Bar Exam….finding my first job……building my skillset…..building a client list…..relationships……kids……..partnership……..more clients……..career change].” Sound familiar? Of course it does. The stressors and impediments to lawyer wellness change throughout the course of a legal career and are unique to the profession. This session will discuss four main stages of a legal career (i) Law School and the Bar Exam; (ii) Building a Practice; (iii) Personal Connections; and (iv) Mid-Career Shifts. The panel will discuss ways to navigate these stages, warning signs that your wellbeing is being sacrificed, and ways to return to a state of satisfaction with life and career. Discussion will include sources of stress, good and bad coping mechanisms, and support systems available for each.
